Equal opportunities
The concept of equal opportunities resonates strongly in society, not only in general but also in the work environment, including university grounds. Not only is it tied to gender issues, but it is a general question of harmonizing work and personal life for everyone regardless of gender; it is also a question of age discrimination, attitude to different groups of people, such as sexual minorities, etc.
The University of Defence strives to create such working conditions under which belonging to a certain gender does not predispose a person to limited roles; on the contrary, it allows all its members to freely develop their abilities, make decisions and take advantage of opportunities. At the same time, different behaviour, aspirations and needs of women and men are considered equal; they are equally valued and supported.
To fulfil these visions and goals, the Rector-Commander approved the Gender Equality Plan of the University of Defence for the period 2022-2030 on November 1, 2022. The plan was created in accordance with the documents of the Ministry of Defence that regulate equal opportunities for women and men, and the European Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025. The acceptance of the plan and its implementation is, among other things, one of the conditions for obtaining funds from research support programmes.
