Colonel Ing. Petr Hlavizna, Ph.D.

Curriculum vitae

Born in Prostejov on 31 July 1975, Petr Hlavizna completed the Military Secondary School of Air Defence in Liptovsky Mikulas, today Slovakia, in 1993 specialised in Electronic Reporting Devices. His professional military career in the rank of sergeant began in Opava where he served at 2nd radio-technical unit. In 1995, he enrolled to studies at the Air Force and Air Defence Faculty of Military Academy in Brno to graduate from Radiotechnical Reconnaissance Technology field in 2000. In the period 2000–2008 he served at tactical-level command units. First, in the position of senior engineer of maintenance service he worked on electronic warfare equipment repairs and maintenance, then he engaged in surveillance and electronic warfare control as a member of intelligence service team and department. In 2008–2013, he was appointed to Intelligence department of Joint Forces Command in Olomouc serving in the positions of senior officer – specialist and then chief officer of Electronic Warfare Department. Appointed deputy chief officer of Intelligence Department of the Joint Forces Command in 2013, he served at the Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare Division of the Ministry of Defence in 2013- 2014 in the position of leading senior officer – specialist within the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Capability Development Department responsible for electronic warfare issues of the Czech Armed Forces.

His overseas deployments include KFOR HQ in July 2006 – January 2007, ISAF HQ in January 2011 – August 2011, and appointment to 1st GNC Műnster (Germany) in 2014–2017.

Since 2017, he has worked for the Faculty of Military Leadership, University of Defence, in academic positions of Intelligence Support Group within the Tactics Department and then deputy head of Intelligence Support Department leading the Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare group. He completed his doctoral degree studies Military Management specialisation of Economics and Management doctoral degree programme in 2020 at the University of Defence. In 2022, he attended General Staff Course there. Since 2023, he has been appointed the head of Intelligence Support Department. He is expert in ISR, electromagnetic warfare and electromagnetic operations.

Colonel Petr Hlavizna is married, father of one child.
